Ken was a pleasure to work with. He has creative, yet realistic, ideas about design and plant materials. Importantly, he was respectful of my tastes and ideas and of the necessity to integrate new material with older plantings that were to remain. Installation and follow-up were prompt and professional.

I often see passersby taking pictures of my front yard and all its beautiful landscaping, especially my rose garden. I give full credit to Ken Coll who has taken an ordinary garden and turned into a lush and fragrant entrance that is worthy of appearing on a front page of Homes and Gardens. The back yard is given equal attention as I now have fruit trees that yield wonderful produce all year round. Ken is a delight to work with as he listens carefully, creates for your personality (I like a very full look) and comes up with perfect suggestions to meet your needs. His team is equally easy to work with. A pleasure in every way.

I had a rectangular-shaped backyard with an odd-shaped pool that was essentially divided into two separate areas, and I wanted it to be one continuous space that was contemporary, Zen and that would require no maintenance on my part. I gave Ken a stack of pictures from magazines for inspiration in terms of color and modern aesthetics, and from there he created a gorgeous design that flowed from north to south with stunning focal points – a custom-poured, under-lit cement bench, horizontal dark wood fence, fire element and the perfect maintenance-free plants. Every day when I look out of my kitchen window, I feel so lucky to see this beautiful, finished space with the exact look I always wanted.

We had what we called a “Vegas yard” – all rocks, like a desert, flat and depressing. Ken created a beautiful look that goes perfectly with our house, to the point where now when people come over, they gravitate outside immediately to our ‘outdoor room.’ Ken did everything – picked all the plants, designed the patio, and installed this amazing, soothing fountain. My dad had just died when we did the back and front yards, and I was hoping fixing things up would make me feel good… and it really, really did! Ken is completely dependable, and when he says he’s going to do something, it’s done, and you don’t ever have to ask twice. His guys are all nice, hard working and conscious of keeping the space clean, too. Ken was really present and patient from beginning to end. You really don’t find that nowadays.

I lived in New York when I bought my house in California – I just flew in, bought it, and had to go back home. My best friend has the same taste as me (traditional, English country garden), and so she communicated to Ken what I was looking for. So A LOT was planted by the time I moved in, and it was all fabulous! Now we work together every week to keep the garden evolving, and we talk about the plants I want and the look I want, all the while keeping water conservation in mind, which is tricky. I live for my garden – it’s such an incredibly important part of my life, and I pay very close attention to detail and Ken is just as meticulous about every aspect of my garden as I am. I look forward to many years to come working closely with Ken – our professional relationship has evolved into a true friendship.
